We're Here!

We have arrived in balmy, sun-drenched Southeast Florida, and are settled in Boca Raton. Kathy and I are loving life here. We are living La Vida Boca! Move was laborious but worth every ounce of energy expended. Mostly all things are in their place, but we still have a few things here and there left to deal with. It already feels like home.

I'm just kicking back and enjoying my semi-retirement, for now. Time will tell if I need to get back to work in some form or manner, but for now, music is what I'll be doing. Either playing, teaching, or just working in a music store. No more printing business for me, Dudes! I'm so happy to be out of that racket.

Getting the licenses and car registrations together is a major deal. Apparently, Florida doesn't recognize the state of Pennsylvania and I need to gather more proof of identity than if I were applying to work at the CIA. Geez! I guess the come to Florida sign is a little bit less lit than they would like you to believe.

Will post more later as things occur, but for now, this is Florida David and I'm outta here ...

Bye Bye Pennsylvania

Kathy and I are relocating to Florida. She has taken a position at Broward General Medical Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. After 59 years in the great state of Pennsylvania, I am taking the plunge and hitting the sunny beaches of south Florida along with my bride. We are going to miss our grandchildren and family here, but, really, think about it, Florida! Moving from a cold short-summer climate to a virtual sauna all year long, are you kidding me?

The Florida detractors out there mention the hurricanes, alligators, bugs, humidity, and stifling heat. Yeah? So what? What's your point? It's Florida for Christ's sake! A bad day there is better than a good day anywhere else (as a commercial once said).

We will be taking a trip down in a week or so to find a place to live. We will be moving the last week of July sometime. Kathy starts her new job on Monday, August 3, 2009. I, on the other hand, am looking forward to playing music to the sweet melody of semi-retirement. At least that's the plan. Much more music opportunity down there than there is up here.

We are both extremely excited and are looking forward to this new chapter in our life. Y'all come down now, you hear.

Kyler Scott McCall

On Tuesday, February 24, 2009 @ 9:28 pm, my second and Kathy's fourth grandchild, Kyler Scott McCall, arrived in the world.  He is a beautiful baby boy born to my daughter, Kelly, and her husband Scott.  Kathy and I were there for the birth and are just ecstatic to welcome another Farkle to the Clan.  At just 15 minutes old in this picture, you can plainly see that he's going to be a lady killer!

Excerpt From "Arthur Australopithecus" a novel novel by David Shenk

The New York City skyline was effusive. Distinct in its profile. Absorbing every man, woman, and child into its fabric, fulfilling the wonderment of ingenuous visitors that stepped briskly along its storied streets, walked with open mouths and starry eyes on its expansive boulevards, amalgamating them instantly into its never-ending story like ingĂ©nues at a casting call meant to further the plot in ways it never could have imagined. Dusk was approaching. Evanescent natural light was beginning its daily metamorphosis to man-made illumination, the magical time when neon caresses the concrete jungle with its gaseous bravado of lit colored glass. Even to the most callous of heart, this time of the day is full of admiration and awe for those who do not call this place their home. Two such neophytes to the big town on the Hudson were Arthur and Octavia Moore of Balthaser, Minnesota. They took to the airways late last night and landed at Kennedy around noon today. Took in a convention, showered, shaved, both took a shit, got dressed, dropped a bundle of cash at dinner at Morton's Steak House, and were now partaking in the camaraderie of their host's Day One evening get-together. And thus, this story begins…

Inaugural Post

This is my initial foray into blogging.  Due to this abhorrent economy, I now, through no fault of my own, have some time now to explore this medium with regularity.
